Heritage Open Days 2018: Don’t Miss Out

Two weekends in September offer the chance to discover history for free!

Heritage Open Days 2018 is this weekend 6-9 September AND next weekend 13-16 September.

Explore what’s going on in your area and don’t miss out!

‘Every September some 40,000 volunteers across England organise 5,000 events to celebrate our fantastic history and culture. It’s your chance to see hidden places and try out new experiences – all of which are FREE to explore.’

Two years ago I went to visit the Colne Valley Postal History Museum.

  1. Reblogged this on Bitchin’ in the Kitchen and commented:
Who here doesn’t follow Historian Ruby?! You’re missing out! If you’re in the U.K. you really don’t want to miss out on this FABULOUS post because amazing days out like this don’t happen often! Please reblog all you like – but reblog from her site not mine as she deserves all the credit 😊
Have a great weekend everyone! I can’t wait to hear about it!

  2. Hi and thanks for sharing! I am looking to get a role in heritage and history but unfortunately my two degrees are in Music and Nursing. Public history and heritage, Victorian and Georgian interiors/exteriors and lifestyle are interests. Any contacts worth contacting? Many thanks HistorianRuby 👑

    1. I’ve not managed to bag a public history role myself, my stamina was weak when job-hunting when my previous qualifications got me interviews super-quick. However, volunteering always helpful. I volunteered for HRP at Kew Palace and Hampton Court Palace a few years ago and my friend volunteered at TNA and was employed when her volunteering role became a proper job.
