The Castle of Pompeano rests on ophiolite serpentine (volcanic rock). Until the early fifteenth century it belonged to the Counts Da Gombola. Pompeano is an ancient village near Serramazzoni (Province of Modena), Italy.

I love the intrigue of a castle! Didn’t realize there were any in Italy. Well, I guess going to Italy is now on the bucket list!

I saw a sign for at least one more 🙂 but Pompeano was a 30-40 minute walk from my sister-in-law’s home.

Italy is one place on my bucket list for sure. Had the chance to go when I was a student(oh so many years ago). Love your pictures and they tell just enough of the story to want to know more.
